The Imperial Hotel
2018
I visited The Imperial Hotel, a Victorian building in Brighton, during the off-season. The mysterious eeriness, the emptiness this hotel had when I first arrived echoed the life and time of visitors that have stayed at the building for the past two centuries. The Imperial was not occupied by visitors. Time seemed to be frozen. It seemed like the present was haunted by the past and the past was modelled, invented, reinvented, and reconstructed by the images my camera could capture. Photography became a reaction to the void of the space.
